Safe Harbor

Safe Harbor curated by Edward Holland

A moment of true stillness feels rare in our present condition. To have a work of art provide that respite feels even scarcer. In a year of disruption and displacement, being given space to be still feels generous. A safe harbor in a surging storm.

The artists in this exhibition provide that moment again and again in their work. Each artist has their own ideas and intent, to be sure. What unites them is the manner through which they deliver it. A punctuated moment wherein the world falls away and all that is left is you and the artwork – with its ideas and aims all to yourself. Across a diverse set of materials and mediums, this exhibition brings together a suite of welcome encounters in which we can all take a moment to be still. To look. To think. To feel. To pause. Ultimately, to reflect. The artists in this show create space for us to do these things and we just need to enter into it.

Do so.
