Kingston, NY — One Mile Gallery is pleased to announce DEV, a solo exhibition of new ceramic works by Michael Dickey, opening Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 5–8 PM.
In DEV, Dickey explores the intersection of craft and technology through form and surface. The exhibition title draws from the language of technological development, reflecting the artist’s ongoing investigation into how ceramics can embody both precision and experimentation. His vessels feature refined, architectural contours that contrast with glazes shifting in tone and depth depending on light and perspective. The resulting works feel simultaneously futuristic and timeless, meditative and dynamic.
“Michael’s practice demonstrates how clay, one of the oldest human materials, can carry a distinctly contemporary presence,” notes One Mile Gallery Director Janet Hicks. “DEV highlights his ability to merge technical control with atmospheric surface treatments that remain alive and unpredictable.”
The exhibition coincides with Kingston Open Studios, a citywide celebration of the area’s thriving creative community, offering visitors a chance to engage with Dickey’s work within a broader cultural context.
DEV will remain on view at One Mile Gallery through October 20, 2025.
About the Artist
Michael Dickey is a ceramic artist whose work bridges traditional craft and contemporary design. His practice emphasizes precision of form while embracing the organic qualities of glaze and fire. Dickey’s vessels have been exhibited widely, recently at the Brooklyn Museum and collected by institutions who value their balance of restraint and dynamism.
