A Complicated Union
Art & Protest at America’s 250th Anniversary
Opens June 27, Reception 5-8pm
In 2026, the United States marks its 250th anniversary. A moment to reflect not only on our nation’s founding ideals, but on the ongoing struggle to realize them. One Mile Gallery invites artists to submit work for a group exhibition examining America through the dual lens of love and protest: honoring the country while questioning, challenging, and expanding its promises.
This exhibition seeks work that engages with the U.S. Constitution, civil liberties, and the lived experience of freedom in America. We are particularly interested in art that amplifies marginalized voices, addresses constitutional rights and freedoms, and explores how dissent, resistance, and care for one’s country are deeply intertwined.
